My name is Jocelyn Foster and I am 22 years old. I am now graduated from the Advanced Diploma, Graphic Design Program at Georgian College in Barrie. Each semester, I worked hard to make it on the deans list, and this past year my hard work and dedication really paid off. I won the Georgian College Scholarship Award for Graphic Design. I have always been pretty artistic and knew I wanted a career in the arts. It wasn't until I took an art tech class in high school that I realized that I really enjoyed designing on a computer. My high school teacher then encouraged me to enter in a logo contest which I ended up winning and received the opportunity to work with a graphic designer. This is when I decided to attend college for graphic design and I wouldn't change it for the world. I have gained so many great experiences and opportunities since I've been in school for graphic design. Two summers ago, I applied to the Summer Company Program offered by the Orangeville & Area Small Business Enterprise Centre (SBEC) and received an amazing opportunity to start my own business, JF Designs, which I have been operating in Shelburne for the past year. With this business I was nominated for the Dufferin Woman in Business: 2017 Woman of Influence award which was such an amazing experience. I am so happy I chose a career where I am constantly learning and doing knew things but also being able to do something I enjoy everyday.
